Poole Community Transport Service Seeks Volunteers

Poole Community Transport Service has been operating for some years under a partnership agreement between the Borough of Poole and Poole Council for Voluntary Service (PCVS). From April this year there will be an exciting new enhancement.

A wheelchair accessible car has been added to the fleet which will be available for bookings from April 2005. This service will compliment the already very successful Dial-a-Bus and TrAC schemes. Journeys can be booked by residents meeting the eligibility criteria for essential trips such as doctors/dentist appointments, luncheon clubs or church group meetings etc. A charge is made. From April bookings for all of these services will be handled by PCVS.

We would love to hear from anyone who enjoys driving and meeting people and who may be able to offer even just an hour or so of their time a week.

Drivers using their own car will receive a generous mileage allowance, and those who enjoy driving but do not have a car may undertake a short training course and take passengers on journeys in and around the Borough of Poole using the new vehicle.

Voluntary Drivers make an important contribution to people living within the Borough of Poole enabling them to live a full and active life within their community. It is the volunteers’ dedication that keeps the service running.

If you think you can help this worthwhile, and much appreciated service, please contact Alison Beavers on (01202) 262220 for more information.
