3,255 sheep sold at Dingwall and Highlands Marts with ‘firm investigation’ for Cheviot gimmers

DINGWALL and Highlands Marts Ltd sold 3255 breeding and storage sheep yesterday.

Breeding ewes (1,664) sold at £155 gross for a Cheviots paddock at 13 Lochside, Lairg.

Feed the Ewes (492) sold at £194 gross for a Texel from 379A Garynamonia, South Uist.

Gimmers (631) sold at £200 gross for a Texel Gimmer from Wester Muckernich, Conon Bridge.

Lambs (425) sold at £98 gross for a Texel from 34 Newmarket, Laxdale.

Rams and Wedders (43) sold at £132 gross for a Suffolk Cross Ram from Roneval House, Leverburgh.

The verdict: “The Cheviot Gimmers were thoroughly investigated and they cashed in at much higher rates over the year. Breeding ewes also met with great trade everywhere, as strong and correct ewes were rare. Feeding Ewes cashed in rates comparable to a Tuesday selloff.
