Burglary at Gillingham Church

POLICE are investigating after burglars broke into a church in Dorset.

Officers investigating the heist, which took place in Gillingham, are calling for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

According to a police statement, it was discovered at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 3 that entry had been forced into St. Benedict’s Church on Cemetery Road.

The break-in is believed to have occurred between 11 am Wednesday, June 2 and 9 am Thursday, June 3, 2021. Officers are investigating what was stolen.

Vicky Biggs, Police Community Support Officer, North Dorset Police Department, said: ‘We are investigating this incident and I am calling on anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact us.

“I also urge anyone with information on who was responsible for this burglary to come forward.”
