Swanage Railway will return with its Steam and Lights train

A Dorset railway has revealed its plans for the festive season which include the return of popular train travel.

Swanage Railway will return with its Steam and Lights train this Christmas, an hour-long evening journey described as “a memorable experience”.

It sees passengers take an hour-long nighttime journey in festively decorated cars covered in colored lights.

Festive music is played on board and synchronized with stunning lighting, and onboard commentary keeps passengers informed throughout the journey.

Tickets for the Steam and Lights train are set to go on sale at the end of the month, with travel starting in early December.

Swanage Railway will also be hosting its restaurant trains again, inviting passengers to enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch aboard a classic steam train.

Trains leave Swanage station at 12.30pm before embarking on a three-hour journey through the spectacular Purbeck countryside.

On board there is a fully stocked bar, and even an option to pre-order bubbles to make the occasion even more special.

Tickets for Swanage Railway’s restaurant trains are already on sale, with service due to start at the end of November.
